Future Research for Media Project 2

What does independent filmmaking mean? Independent cinema is hard to diagnose and categorize. With no real consent, it is easier to refer to the common definition, that any film which is created outside of the  studio system is called independent

During the following years, ‘…independent film production fought the system of oligopoly, while rejecting key features of the studio-based system of production.’ (Tzioumakis, 2017).

In my point of view New Hollywood Cinema gave lesser known producers a chance to compete with those prosperous opponents.

With the introduction and technological achievements of the time, portable cameras and sound equipment together with other filmmaking facilities were made cheaper and more budget friendly for these characters.

This helped them to create the films they wanted to, without the financial, aesthetic or ideological pressure of the major studios; which is a factor that can basically consider a film ‘independent’ alone.

Here is the most popular independent 'indie' movie :
Zone 414 (2021)
Honey Boy (2019)
Host (2020)
The Peanut Butter Falcon (2019)
Call me by your name (2017)
Lady Bird (2017)
Moonlight (2016)

These films are united by the title of the independent ones. They don't follow the formula that studio films have. They often have a more complex plot and are more realistic than studio films.
Often they make the viewer think and catch deeply, something that high-budget blockbusters fail.

Independent producers pay for their films themselves or look for sponsors to make ,edit and distribute their films.

I am doing this research because the project that I will be doing for the Media Project 2 is an article about independent filmmaking. The main idea is to make this article creative in a magazine style.

This article will be about 1000 words. I made the title of the article ' The fight against Hollywood' to attract the attention of the reader.

I will continue to do research about independent filmmaking in order to write an interesting and informative article.
